Thousands of people across the globe are discovering the remarkable benefits of essential oils for the first time. You may be one of them. Or you may have been using essential oils before most of us learned how to pronounce “copaiba.” Wherever you are in your essential oil journey, we want you to know that you are welcome here at Aromawest. Nice to meet you.
Now with the pleasantries out the way, let’s discuss how Aromawest compares to other essential oil brands. There’s a lot of talk out there and we want to help you make sense of it. The goliaths in the aromatherapy space may claim to have a patent on quality and we’re here to tell you that just isn’t true. There is no official governing body that makes sure essential oils are “therapeutic grade.” Moreover, there are no official regulations on purity or quality. Therefore, it’s important that you purchase essential oils from a brand that you trust.
Red & Green Flags For Essential Oils
As more essential oil brands pop up, many have cut costs by diluting their oils with carrier oils or adding synthetics. Always make sure that the brand you buy from offers GC/MS test results so you can verify the quality and purity of each oil (hooray, we do!). If a brand offers an especially low price, that also may be a sign that they’re cutting corners.
Always make sure your bottle is 100% pure essential oil. The oil may be mixed with fragrances or synthetics which can be damaging to your health according to the Environmental Working Group. Steer clear of anything that reads “fragrance oil” and always look for the botanical name listed on the bottle. The Latin name identifies the specific botanical of the essential oil.
For example, a product simply labeled “Lavender'' probably isn’t pure essential oil. The label should also include “Lavandula angustifolia,” its Latin name. Labels should also identify where the essential oil is sourced. The plants that produce essential oils can yield different aromatic and therapeutic benefits based on soil conditions, elevation, weather, etc. Our Lavender is grown on a beautiful farm in Bulgaria.
As for smell, our aromatherapists can identify if an oil is cut with synthetics, expired, or impure with a single whiff. If you’re still working on your aromatherapist nose, look for a natural smell. Ask, “would I smell this outdoors or in a garden?” If the answer is no or the oil has a plastic or alcohol smell to it, toss it. Finally, essential oils are derived from plants and not everything can be made into an essential oil. Unfortunately, Popcorn and Cotton Candy essential oils do not exist. If they did, we’d be the first to carry stock.
How Aromawest Compares To Other Essential Oil Brands
Now that we’ve covered how to identify a high-quality essential oil, let’s discuss how Aromawest stacks up next to other big names in aromatherapy. Admittedly, we’re biased but we’ll break it down for you anyway.
Aromawest vs. doTERRA
Many people find their way to Aromawest from doTERRA. We are fans of their incredible blends and love the passion for essential oils they’ve inspired so many people. Unlike doTERRA, Aromawest is not a multi-level-marketing company (MLM). We sell directly to our customers through our website. This allows us to keep our prices fair. Because we GC/MS test our oils, we know that doTERRA’s quality is comparable to our own high standards.
Aromawest vs. Young Living
One of our founding members was first introduced to Aromatherapy through Young Living. Like doTERRA, Young Living is a multi-level-marketing company (MLM). They sell their oils through individual representatives, while we sell our essential oils straight to you through our website. At Aromawest, we partner directly with farms so we can pass savings on to you, without jeopardizing quality. Young Living’s essential oils are also on par with Aromawest.
Aromawest vs. Plant Therapy
A brand with a super fun and playful vibe, Plant Therapy offers all sorts of products from body lotions to t-shirts. As far as we can tell, they have great quality products. Some of their ingredients list animal by-products. At Aromawest, we are committed to vegan and cruelty-free forever, period. We love our animal friends (even the bees!).
Aromawest vs. Eden’s Garden
A big company that sells a ton on Amazon, Eden’s Garden has so many fun essential oil products. From what we’ve gathered, their quality is on par with our essential oils. One key difference between us and Eden’s Garden is the number of product offerings. We choose to curate our collection of essential oils because sometimes more is just well, more. All of our single oils and blends are chosen for quality, purpose and intention.
Why Choose Aromawest?
We started Aromawest because we wanted to find a high-quality essential oil brand that was relatable but also had curated offerings. Instead of wishing for that brand to drop from the sky, we built it ourselves. Aromawest is for the essential oil enthusiasts, the misfits, and the troublemakers. You don’t have to be perfect to enjoy our essential oils.
All of our essential oils are 100% pure and undiluted. We GC/MS test all our essential oils and spend countless hours formulating purposeful blends. We keep it affordable, we keep it classy. Our goal is to go through the essential oil journey with you. We’re in this together!
